12 Months of Thumb Twiddling – Pachyder What

Well the 31st October has been and gone for another year. For most and me, normally, it means costumes, parties and sweets.

My State so Far

So at 3 pm yesterday, the 1st of July, the half-year bell rang.

Rating: 4/10

Highlight: Yeah this is a tough one, a bit like finding a needle in a haystack. My friends always make me smile and help take my mind off things, so I’ll go for anytime spent with friends. Mushy I know but everything else has been pretty rubbish.

Lowlight: All of the medical stuff. After a few chilled out years, everything has gone mad again. Having to recover from two surgeries in 6 months isn’t easy and the impact that they have had on my life has been pretty brutal. The first was completely my own fault but unintentional. The second was sprung on me with only 3 weeks warning, after two and a half years with no contact.

Felt: Pretty bloody depressed to be honest.

Want: A new start, today is going to be my New Year part deux, much like Hot Shots! It will be brilliant. The summer will arrive, at last, and everything will work itself out, for better or worse.

Need: The next 6 months to give some answers, or at least some clues or a crumb of information. I have never had any patience and I have spent the last 6 months waiting for too many things to happen.

Miss: Getting on with life. Before the start of this year I was fine, pain free and pretty health, or so I thought. Now I am always in pain and have discovered some pretty major health problems.

Learnt: That optimism isn’t always a good trait to hold. When you instinctively hope for the best and imagine the consequences of the best outcome, getting knocked back can take its toll. But hey I will continue to buy a lottery ticket; someone has to win.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing – Pachyder What

Raise your glasses to another 3 months of sitting around and doing bugger all about my low blood levels.

A job well done – Pachyder What

After the short notice, my operation went very well and I have spent the last 3 weeks recovering. My swelling has quickly gone down and to the outside world it is nearly impossible to tell that I have just had surgery.

A story about how my life got twisted upside down, again – Pachyder What

Well I have had quite the week.

Last night was my appointment with my Haematologist to discuss my latest set off blood results and formulate a plan of action to try and make me better. Well that was the hope I had about week ago, but everything has spiralled out of control a bit.

I now have a 4th doctor with no answers – Pachyder What

Well, that might be a little bit harsh but I still do not have any answers, or anything more than a loose plan, regarding my blood and bone marrow problems.

My State on Sunday 3/52

Week 3 and it was time to go back to work..

Weekly Rating: 5/10

Felt: Knackered, returning to work has really taken it out of me. The commute has been ridiculously hard work, especially on Tuesday morning when the arseholes on my train decided I didn’t need a seat.

Watched: I have mainly been sleeping but I have watched some Grey’s Anatomy, Suits and squeezed in The Killing, the more I watch this, the greater my love for Sarah Lund’s Jumper is. No Films this week, there was far too much sport on; cricket, rugby and football and of course the ridiculous Lance Armstrong interviews. They were unbelievably overhyped and failed to add any information on the doping/cheating. Oprah failed to show any journalistic skills, which is unsurprising given she is a chat show host who pandered to a highly rehearsed Armstrong, who hit his lines and spotted his cues perfectly.

Read: Caught up on PR Week at work and then spent the weekend relaxing with GQ and the papers. Medical letters, ALL THE MEDICAL LETTERS, I have been sorting through all of my medical notes to try and put some order to my records

Visited: Work, Physio, Surgeon and my friends came to me.

Want: I want the snow to mean I get a day off, not that I will be slipping on ice with a recovering knee.

Need: More Sleep, going back to work has taken it out of me; my body is knackered after the commute. But hopefully if the snow allows I can get back to the gym this week.

Miss:Sunshine, for the past few days the sky has been covered in cloud day and night.

Learnt: Where to place my priorities and the Percy’s Pig Sty contains sweets in the shape of things that definitely wouldn’t be in a pig sty, like crowns and clocks.
